Important Notice Rock crawling is an inherently dangerous sport. Each competitor assumes that risk when he or she participates in as Event. The risk of serious injury or vehicle damage cannot be eliminated and, in fact, will always be present at a high level. Competitors are urged to advise their spouses and next of kin, if any, of this fact. By competing, all competitors, both spotter and driver, agree to the following.
In consideration of being permitted to participate in any event sponsored, promoted, or directed by Idaho Off-Road, HBRK and Idaho State 4x4 Association, the competitor for himself/herself, his/her personal representatives, heirs, and next of kin, hereby releases Idaho Off-Road, HBRK and Idaho State 4x4 Association and their respective officers, promoters, sponsors and volunteers (“releasers”) of all liability to the competitor, whether caused by negligent act or omission of releasers or otherwise while the undersigned is for any purpose participating in such event. It is fully understood by each of the competitors that there is some inherent risk associated with this event, including damage to vehicles and injury or death to the individual.
In addition, the competitor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the releasers from any loss, liability, damage, or cost they incur due to such participation by the competitor, whether caused by releasers’ negligence or otherwise, and agrees to assume full responsibility and risk for bodily injury, death, or property damage from releasers’ negligence or otherwise while the competitor is participating in this event.
Each Competitor acknowledges and represents the following while competing:
1. That he or she has read the foregoing release and waiver of liability and indemnity agreement.
2. That he or she does at all times, while riding in a vehicle participating in this event, wear his or her respective seat belts and helmet.
3. That the owner/driver certifies that he or she has inspected their vehicle and that the same certifies it to be in proper mechanical condition for participation in rock crawling competition.
4. That the owner/driver has informed himself/herself about the event, either by prior participation or by investigation into the sport of rock crawling.
5. That the driver or any other person(s) in a vehicle participation in this event may choose to bypass any obstacle and, therefore, assumes all risk and liability, as indicated above.
Please Be Aware Although safety is generally everyone’s concern and certainly the concern of the promoters, the final responsibility rests on the competitors. Competitors can, at any time, choose to bypass any obstacle or area where they feel uncomfortable or unsafe driving.
Safety Rules The judge has the right but not the responsibility to advise spotters and drivers of unsafe acts. Further, any act deemed unsafe by a judge is to immediately be discontinued. Failure to comply can result in an immediate point out and the team will be asked to move to the next obstacle. Safety requirements include, but ate not limited to:
Valid Driver's License Each driver must show proof of a valid driver's license. Competitors under the age of 18 must have parental consent.
Seat Belts Seat belts must be worn at all times while driving or riding in a vehicle during an event. This includes all passengers and time ran between obstacles as well as time to and from the event site.
Winch Cable A weight bag must be used prior to tensioning any steel cable. Winch ropes do not need a weight bag when tensioning.
Loose Articles All items must be securely fastened to prevent injury in the event of a rollover. Coolers, misc. parts, and so forth are to be removed from the vehicle prior to each obstacle.
Fire Extinguisher Each vehicle must have mounted on the roll cage a fire extinguisher that is accessible.
Helmets All competitors riding in a vehicle must wear a DOT approved helmet while competing. Spotters must wear head protection made with a hard shell material while on an obstacle.
Medical Conditions Teams must advise the event staff of any medical conditions that they may have that would affect their ability to perform or become a concern during competition.
First Aid First aid kits containing medical tape, gauze, band-aids, and wrap are required in each vehicle.
Drugs/Alcohol Drugs and alcohol will not be permitted in any degree during competition. Competitors who are found to be consuming or are under the influence of drugs or alcohol during competition will be disqualified from the event they are participating in.
Additional competition details will be discussed during the driver’s meeting on the day of the event.

The Boise National Forest continues their Travel Planning and is now working on portions of the Emmett Ranger District. There are a total of 216,193 acres, comprising some 65 percent of the Ranger District, that have not gone through a complete National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) decision process for route designation. These acres are comprised of the "E" travel management areas identified on the current Boise National Forest Visitor/Travel Map. Public motorized travel in "E" areas currently utilizes established user-created routes, as well as formally designated routes.
Of principal interest is specifically which, if any, of the user-created routes within the "E" areas to formally designate for public motorized travel and what site-specific information the Forest Service (FS) should consider in evaluating user-created routes proposed for formal designation. At the conclusion of this process, only formally designated routes will remain available for public motorized travel in these areas.
The first step in the planning process is to develop a detailed proposal for the new designated travel plan. They call this the "proposed action." The FS needs your input! The FS is working on developing that proposed action right now! It is extremely important that individuals and groups who are interested in motorized recreation in these areas participate in this process. All information received will be available for public review and comment later this fall.
The deadline to submit comments for this part of the planning process is August 30, 2008.
Keep in mind that the new Travel Rule applies to ALL motorized vehicles. Hunters who use ATVs or motorcycles to retrieve harvested big game have the potential to be most directly affected by this route designation process.
The FS is holding three public meetings, where they will explain the Travel Route Designation Process for the Emmett Ranger District. (See Schedule below)

Thursday, July 17, 2008 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Crouch City Hall 329 Village Circle Garden Valley, Idaho
Site-specific maps of the "E" areas on the Emmett Ranger District will be available at the meetings and, subsequently, on the Boise National Forest website. District specialists will be available to provide information on current uses of the "E" areas.

To whom it may concern,
As you may know, the Bureau of Land Management's Boise District Office is in the beginning stages of a Resource Management Plan (RMP) for the Four Rivers Planning area, and would like to give you and your organization the opportunity to provide input. The planning area includes about 783,000 acres of public land in the counties of Adams, Valley, Washington, Payette, Gem, Boise, Canyon, Ada, and Elmore. In addition, the area encompasses sections of the Snake, Weiser, Boise and Payette Rivers.
The first step in the RMP is the identification of management issues which will be used as the foundation for the entire planning process. The Four Rivers Field Office Specialists have identified a list of preliminary issues including:
1. Special status species management-Areas that require special designations for protection 2. Land tenure adjustments-Lands identified as available for disposal or retention 3. Recreation management-Special recreation management areas 4. Special designation evaluations. i.e. Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) and Wild and Scenic Rivers (WSR) 5. Access and transportation-Areas open, closed, or limited to cross country travel.

Bill will have the barbeque going again and will be cooking up hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone to enjoy. Water will be provided. Please bring your own soda, tea, etc. No alcohol please.
